New Mahindra Scorpio variants revealed

Mahindra Scorpio facelift

Mahindra will launch the Scorpio facelift in the Indian car market on 25th of September, 2014. Bookings of the facelifted Scorpio have already commenced for existing owners, and will open for all from September 18.  One can book the new Scorpio by paying a token amount of Rs. 20,000 and deliveries will be made on first-come-first serve basis. Moreover, the production of the Scorpio facelift has already been started at Mahindra’s Nashik manufacturing unit.

The Mahindra Scorpio facelift would come in five variants- S2, S4, S6, S8 and S10. All variants will be paired to a five-speed manual gearbox that transmits power to rear wheels of the SUV. The vehicle would be offered in five exterior shades- Molten Red, Regal Blue, Diamond White, Silver Mist and Fiery Black. Mahindra will later launch the four wheel drive and automatic version of the Scorpio.

  1. The Scorpio S2 variant gets both 7 and 9 seat options, and it will be powered by the 2.5-litre M2DiCR turbo diesel engine producing 75bhp and 220Nm of torque.
  2. The S4 variant features the 2.2-litre mHawk turbo diesel engine that develops 120bhp of power.
  3. The Scorpio S6 variant gets 7 and 8 seat options.
  4. The S8 variant also gets 7 and 8 seat options. Interestingly, the vehicle would feature a captain seat for second row occupants
  5. The S10 variant features the same set of seating layout offered in S8 trim.

The Mahindra Scorpio facelift features a hydroframed ladder frame chassis. The vehicle gets changes to both exteriors and interiors. It is equipped with new steering wheel; advanced infotainment system, centre console, etc. On safety front, the vehicle gets airbags, ABS+EBD, reverse parking sensors, cruise control, rain sensing wipers and automatic headlamps.
