New Mahindra Scorpio S4+ variant launched; features & specs

New Mahindra Scorpio

Mahindra & Mahindra, the leading utility vehicle maker that launched the new generation Scorpio SUV in 2014 has now added a new variant to its lineup. Named as the S4+, the new variant will be positioned above the S4 variant. Along with the features offered on the S4 variant, the new variant gets additional safety features.

The additional safety features include dual front airbags, seatbelt reminder warning, panic brake indication, Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-Force Distribution (EBD), etc. Adding to it, the new Scorpio gets the follow-me-home headlamps. Interestingly, the new S4+ variant now gets shift-on-the-fly all-wheel drive system which was earlier offered on the S4 trim. Now, the S4 trim is only available with the rear-wheel drive system. It is basically the mid-level variant, and features black side cladding and steel wheels. On the other hand, the top-spec models come with body-coloured cladding and alloy wheels.

Under the hood is the 2.2-litre mHawk turbo diesel engine that is good for 120bhp and 280Nm of peak torque. This engine is clubbed to five-speed manual gearbox which sends the power to either rear wheels or all-wheels of the SUV. It is expected that the S4+ variant would cost around Rs. 50,000 more than the old S4 4×4 variant. The S4 4×4 was introduced at Rs. 10.1 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi.
