The new Elite i20 is based on Hyundai’s Fluidic Sculpture 2 design philosophy. The vehicle shares its styling cues with the Grand i10 hatchback and the Xcent compact sedan. Most striking change is given to the front fascia of the hatchback which now features low mounted grille. The chrome grille is complemented by sharp sweptback headlamps. Its new bonnet features prominent lines in V-shape. Also visible is the metal inserts and the matte black strip placed right below the grille. The smaller C-pillar is engrossed in black colour, giving it a sloping roof while the rising shoulder line adds to its sporty character. At the rear, the Elite i20 features an elongated wrap around tail lamps.

The new Hyundai Elite i20 is 24mm wider which in return offers a more shoulder space. Its wheelbase has been extended by 45mm resulting into a spacious cabin. Interestingly, the company has reduced the overall length by 10mm to 3985mm while the height measures at 1505mm. Moreover, the ground clearance is up by 5mm to 170mm which is a good improvement. Its top-end model runs on 16-inch alloy wheels.

Inside the cabin, the new Elite i20 gets dual tone theme dashboard with beige shade positioned on the upper half and the dark brown on lower half. The soft-touch materials in light shade are placed on the top half of the dashboard.  The larger central console features blue back lighting, 2-DIN audio player and air conditioning. Top-end variants get push-button start and rear AC vents. It also sports Bluetooth telephony, multi-functional steering wheel, dual 12V power sockets, USB, audio and multi-info display, etc.

Under the bonnet is the same 1.2-litre kappa VTVT petrol and 1.4-litre U2 CRDi engine. The petrol engine is capable of producing a top power output of 83PS and 115Nm of top torque. Its oil burner is capable of developing a top power output of 90PS and a peak torque of 220Nm. The petrol model is paired to a five-speed manual gearbox which sends the power to front wheels, while the diesel engine gets a six-speed gearbox. The petrol version of the hatchback is claimed to return a good mileage of 18.6kmpl while the diesel version delivers an excellent fuel economy of 22.45kmpl.
