American automaker, Ford is planning to launch the next generation Endeavour aka Everest SUV in several ASEAN markets including India. The new model is currently in its final development stage at the company’s Australian research facility. This SUV will make its way to the Indian market by the end of next year. The new Endeavour is likely to get premium and the company has also tweaked the mechanical part to offer improved drivability. Set to rival Toyota Fortuner and the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, the Fortuner SUV carries the Ford Edge design philosophy. Ford Australia has released a new teaser video, which offers new design and development objectives of the new Endeavour/Everest.
The production spec 2015 Endeavour looks quite identical to the Everest concept. The vehicle gets the hexagonal front grille which offers Ford’s new design philosophy. It features sculpted design which further enhances the overall design of the car.
The 2015 Ford Endeavour SUV is based on the ladder frame chassis to offer toughness and off-roading capability. The rear suspension setup of the new SUV will sport an independent layout instead of the leaf spring layout on the outgoing model. This suspension setup improves the drivability of the SUV. It will also feature a Terrain Response four wheel drive system.
The next Ford Endeaour is likely to be powered by 2.2-litre and 3.0-litre 4-cylinder diesel engines. Both engines are expected to be paired with automatic transmission gearbox, while the lower spec engine could get a manual gearbox. The new SUV will be locally assembled in the country through the completely knocked down (CKD) kit route, at Ford India’s Chennai factory.
