American carmaker, Ford has officially revealed the production version of the next generation 2015 Ford Endeavour. The production-spec model will go on sale in markets including China, India, New Zealand, Australian, South African and others in 2015.
The production-spec Endeavour largely resembles the Everest concept shown in Sydney in 2013; however, the company has made subtle changes to make it road compatible. The SUV features a coil spring setup at the front, and a Watt’s linkage on the rear axle. Developed and designed by Ford’s Asia Pacific design & product development teams, the next Endeavour will be offered in both rear wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions.
Ford has worked upon the off-road driving dynamics of the SUV. It features a new four-wheel drive system that comprises of an active transfer case with Torque on Demand and a Terrain Management system. The new SUV comes with a large ground clearance of 225mm, and offers a water-wading capacity of 800mm. The SUV offers an excellent luggage carrying capacity of 2,010 litres with the second and third row seats folded. Its Terrain Management System offers four settings including Normal, Snow/Gravel/Grass, Sand and Rock. According to the road conditions, the vehicle adjusts the traction control and throttle and transmission response.
Inside the cabin, the new Ford Endeavour features an all-new design layout. It is equipped with SYNC2 multimedia system that consists of voice command, automatic climate control and the new 8-inch touchscreen system with colour coded corners. The new SUV will be offered in two diesel and one petrol engine- 3.2-litre 5-cylinder diesel, a 2.2-litre four-cylinder and a 2.0-litre twin-scroll EcoBoost petrol. The Indian-spec model will only get diesel fuel options.
