Maruti Ciaz

Maruti Suzuki will launch the much-awaited Ciaz sedan aka Alivio in the Indian car market in September this year. If media reports are to be believed, the bookings for the sedan are likely to commence this month. Unveiled at the 2014 Delhi Motor Show as concept, the production-spec Ciaz looks modern and appealing than the aging SX4 sedan. The production of the SX4 sedan has been stopped while the production of the Ciaz sedan is started at the company’s Manesar production unit.

The new Maruti Suzuki Ciaz will rival against the likes of new Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Volkswagen Vento. It looks more appealing than the SX4 saloon and is likely to get several high end features. The Ciaz gets aggressive front fascia with trapezoidal grille with chrome embellishment that accommodates the Suzuki logo. The chrome grille is complemented by large angular shaped projector headlamps and the bumper has wide air dams and new fog lamp assembly. The side profile of the sedan has aerodynamic creases running across the length which add to its sporty character.

The interiors of the sedan are likely to be sourced from the Ertiga MPV. A rear AC vent and multi-functional steering wheel will be on offer. The new Maruti Ciaz will be offered in both petrol and diesel fuel options. The petrol Suzuki Ciaz will get the 1.4-litre K Series engine producing 93.6bhp and 130Nm of torque. Its diesel model will be powered by the tried & trusted Fiat’s sourced 1.3-litre Multi-Jet engine developing 89bhp and 200Nm of top torque. Both the engines are paired to a five-speed manual transmission gearbox while the petrol version also gets CVT gearbox.
