Exterior Styling

The S101 mini SUV will be Mahindra’s second product to be based on an all-new monocoque platform. The vehicle features a cab-forward design, and shares some of its styling cues with the XUV 500. The car’s front fascia looks very aggressive with elements like a wide grille with vertical slats and projector headlamps. The vehicle is equipped with the 15-inch wheels and 185/65 R15 tubeless tyres. The rear door handles seem to derive its design inspiration from the Chevrolet Beat. The vehicle also gets outside rear view mirrors (ORVMs), rear windscreen, license plate, mounted turn lights, plastic wheel arches, a roof rails, a rear wiper and washer, rear spoiler, black theme in the lower portion of the bumper and contrasting silver chrome at the rear end.

There will be an audio system and chrome accented vertically stacked knobs and gear lever on the centre console and high-mounted AC vents. Unlike the XUV500, the S101 will get a speedometer dial on the right side.

This mini SUV will come with 3 + 3 seating configuration and front bench seats. With a long wheelbase, it will offer an ample space to accommodate six adult passengers. As far as features are concerned, the S101 will be equipped with an infotainment system, a small touchsreen display, a multi-function steering wheel, automatic climate control, ABS (anti-lock braking system) with EBD (electronic brake-force distribution) and ESP (electronic stability program).

Engine Specs & Transmission

The Mahindra’s mini SUV will be made available with an all-new 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. These powertrains have been developed with joint efforts of Mahindra and Ssangyong. Power will be delivered to the wheels via a 5-speed manual and an AMT (automated manual transmission) gearbox. The 2WD (two-wheel drive) system will come as standard feature.

Mileage

As there is no clarity about the engine, it would be so earlier to comment on its mileage. But, if the compact SUV gets the new 1.2-litre engine, we expect it to return fuel efficiency over 20kmpl.
