On Rapid’s 4th anniversary, Skoda Auto India has rolled out the ‘Anniversary Edition’ of the sedan at a starting price of Rs. 6.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Since, it’s just a special edition, the Rapid Anniversary Edition will be sold till September, 2015 across all Skoda dealerships in the country. The Anniversary Edition hosts a series of new features, making it more advanced than before.
Based on Sokda’s Simply Clever philosophy, the Rapid Anniversary Edition features contrasting tone roof foils and side door foils. Though, the entire design and dimensions remain unchanged. Inside, the car gets wood décor interior trims that add more to its appeal.
The saloon gets the revolutionary ‘TrackPro’ car tracking device system that keeps the driver connected with the vehicle, and tacks its location 24X7. Though, this remote tracking technology is offered only on the Elegance Plus variant. Besides this, the device also records vehicle trip history, assigns boundary and over speed limit alerts and updates tracking configurations such as vehicle registration IDs, owner’s number, etc.
Safety features like six airbags, anti-lock braking system (ABS) and electronic stability control (EBC) come as standard equipment. Other noteworthy features include Skoda 2-DIN integrated audio player, adjustable dual rear AC vents on rear center console, Bluetooth connectivity for phone /audio streaming / remote control via phone app, height & length adjustable steering wheel, cruise control and projector headlamps.
Since the Skoda Rapid Anniversary Edition is available across all trim levels, the available engine options are – a 1.5-litre TDI with a 5-speed manual transmission, a 1.5-litre TDI with a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox, a1.6-litre MPI petrol with a 5-speed manual and a 1.6-litre MPI petrol with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
