Kawsaki, the Japanese two-wheeler maker is planning to launch several new performance oriented bikes in the Indian two-wheeler market. If media reports are to be believed, the company will soon launch the Kawasaki Z250SL, its single-cylinder quarter-litre motorcycle in the India by the end of 2015.
The Z250SL will be Kawasaki’s cheapest bike on sale in the country. Adding to it, the company is planning to sell both- the Z250 and the Z250SL simultaneously. Powering the Z250SL is a 249cc, single-cylinder liquid-cooled motor that churns out a maximum power output of 28PS and a peak torque of 22.6Nm. Power will be transmitted to rear wheels via a six-speed gearbox. On the other hand, the Z250 features a 249cc liquid-cooled, “parallel twin” engine producing 32PS of power and 21Nm of torque.
Report also suggest that the company will locally sourced various components including handlebars, clutch plates, suspensions, wheels, tyres, headlamps and tail lamps, switch gears, switch housings, radiator fans and others. The powertrain and its components will be sourced from Thailand, but the Japanese automaker is planning to localise this model to price competitively. This bike could be locally assembled at Bajaj’s Chakan manufacturing plant.
