Japanese car manufacturer Suzuki has unveiled the Ciaz mid-sized concept and the S-Cross SX4 crossover at the 2014 Moscow Motor Show. The crossover is named as New Suzuki SX4 while the previous model is rebadged as the ‘SX4 Classic’.
The other model is the Ciaz concept which will go on sale in the Indian car market under the same Ciaz badge. The vehicle will also go on sale in China, next month with new name- ‘Alivio’. Pronounced as ‘chi-aaz’, this mid-sized sedan is specifically developed for the growing markets including India and China. The Suzuki Ciaz is basically larger in size compared to the SX4 sedan. With lower ground clearance and larger wheelbase, the sedan offers an impressive cabin space and rugged appearance. The Indian-spec sedan will come in two engine options- 90PS, 1.3-litre multijet and 90PS, 1.4-litre K-Series.
The Russian spec S-Cross is offered with a 1.6-litre 4-cylinder petrol motor that produces 117bhp and 156Nm of torque. The engine is paired to either five-speed manual transmission or a CVT gearbox. An ALLGRIP variant is also on offer along with a front wheel drive model. This crossover is 4,300mm long, 1,765mm wide and 1,575mm high, and it has a large wheelbase of 2,600mm. It is offered in 10 variants in Russia, and is tagged at 749,000 Rubles (INR 12.54 lakh).
