Hyundai Elite i20 variants, features and specifications- explained

Hyundai India has introduced the new generation 2015 Hyundai Elite i20 in the country. Moreover, the new Elite i20 also made its global debut in our country. It will also be unveiled at the 2014 Paris Motor Show in October. The company has released all the variants, specifications and other details of the new Elite i20. This hatchback is available in five trim levels- Era, Magna, Sportz, Sportz (O) and Asta.

Hyundai India is offering the current i20 Elite in both petrol and diesel guise. The petrol version of the hatchback is powered by a 1.2-litre Kappa VTVT engine producing 83PS of top power and 115Nm of torque. Its oil burner is the 1.4-litre U2 CRDi that is capable of developing a top power output of 90PS and a peak torque of 220Nm. The petrol model is paired to a five-speed manual gearbox which sends the power to front wheels, while the diesel engine gets a six-speed gearbox. There is no automatic variant is on offer; however, we believe that the company will later on launch the automatic variant. The petrol powered Elite i20 is claimed to offer an excellent fuel economy of 18.60kmpl while the diesel version returns a mileage of 22.54kmpl.

Hyundai i20 Elite Era- It is the entry level variant in its lineup. This model gets decent comfort and convenience features including day and night rear view mirror, headrest on rear seats, front power windows, manual air conditioning, central locking, and others. This entry level model lacks important safety features including airbags for driver and its co-occupant, ABS with EBD and others. However, it has basic security features such as engine immobilizer, remote central locking, rear fog lamps, etc.

Hyundai i20 Elite Magna- It is the mid-level variant which has all the features that are accessible in the lower spec model. Adding to it, this model gets features like headlamp escort function, chrome grille which is flanked by sweptback headlamps, body coloured door handles and mirrors, sunglass holder, rear parcel shelf, front armrest with storage, rear air conditioning vents, electrically adjustable outside rear view mirrors, cooled glovebox, all 4 power windows, lane-change indicator, etc. Unlike the base variant, it has passengers’ entertainment and connectivity functions which includes 2 DIN radio and MP3 player, 1 GB internal memory, front and rear speakers and tweeters to play sound. Its power adjustable steering gets controls for audio.

Hyundai Elite i20 Sportz- This is also the mid-level variant in the Elite i20 lineup. Available in both petrol and diesel guise, the Sportz trim is loaded with some added safety and security features. Along with the features that are accessible in lower spec variants, this variant has driver side airbag, Anti-Lock braking system, rear parking sensors and camera and rear defogger. This variant also gets impact sensing door auto unlock, seat belt pretensioners, electro-chromatic RVM, electrically adjustable outside rear view mirrors with integrated turn indicators, auto up-down and pinch guard for driver’s window and others. Inside, the vehicle gets leather cover on gearshift knob, automatic air conditioning, height adjustable driver’s seat and an advanced infotainment system with CD player.

Hyundai Elite i20 Sportz (O)- This is basically the slightly upgraded version of the Sportz variant. It comes equipped with some added features including smart key, chrome inserts on door handles and clutch lock. Its flared wheel arches have been fitted to alloy wheels instead of steel.

Hyundai Elite i20 Asta- It is the top-of-the line variant in the Elite i20 model series. This model has all the features that are accessible in lower spec model. Adding to it, this variant is equipped with features like dual airbags for both driver and its co-occupant, automatic headlamps, lots of chrome on both front and rear fascia, rear wiper and washer, Anti-Lock braking system with EBD, child safety lock, leather wrapped steering wheel, etc.
