Fiat India is gearing up to launch the performance brand- the Abarth in the country. The first product to hit Indian shores is the Abarth 500, which will go on sale soon. If media reports are to be believed, the company is contemplating Abarth Punto Evo and Abarth Avventura crossover for the Indian market.
Both cars will be propelled by a 1.4-litre T-Jet MultiAir 4-cylinder petrol unit. This engine is capable of producing a top power output of 133bhp at 6000rpm and a peak torque of 206Nm at 1750rpm. The powerplant accelerate the car to 100kmph from zero in around 8.5 seconds and hits a top speed of 195kmph.
Interestingly, the new variants of Punto Evo and Avventura will be sold under the Abarth badge. Internationally, this engine develops 155PS of top power. Adding to it, the company has also has SS variant that delivers 180PS of power. However, the India-bound model will only get the 135PS variant.
The standard Punto and Avventura is available in both petrol and diesel engine options that produces 75PS to 90Ps of power. Both models will go on sale in the third quarter (Festive Season) next year. According to Rushlane, the two new cars will be priced in the range of Rs. 9-10 lakh.
