Fiat India has finally unveiled the much-awaited Abarth 595 Competizione at the ongoing Autocar Performance Show in Mumbai. The vehicle is expected to go on sale in the country in the coming weeks. It will be the first Abarth to be launched in the Indian car market, which will be followed by the Abarth Punto and Abarth Avventura in the quarter 3, 2015.
The 595 Competizione feature Abarth decals and body cladding all over the car to offer sporty characteristics to it. The company has reduces the height by 105mm, which further improves the aerodynamics of the hatchback. Its flared wheel arches have been fitted to special 17-inch alloy wheels. At the back, the car has twin-exhausts to add sporty touch. Inside the cabin, the 595 Competezione is equipped with features like sports seats, sunroof, gear shift indicator with turbo boost gauge, flat bottom steering wheel, etc.
It is propelled by a 1.4-litre MultiAir turbo-petrol engine that churns out a maximum power output of 160PS at 5500rpm and a peak torque of 201Nm at 2750rpm in Normal mode. The torque figure can be increased to 230Nm when runs on Sports mode. This engine is paired to an AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) gearbox with Manual Override system. On safety front, this hatchback is equipped with seven airbags, ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic BrakeForce Distribution), HBA, Torque transfer control (TTC), electronic slip differential, etc.
The Abarth 595 Competezione will come as CBU (Completely Built Up) unit and is expected to be priced in the range of Rs. 25-30 lakh (ex-showroom). It will compete against the likes of 2015 MINI, BMW 1 Series, Mercedes-Benz A-Class, and the upcoming Audi A3 hatchback.
