Fiat India will launch the highly rated Abarth 500 Competizione hot hatchback at the Autocar Performance Show 2014, which is scheduled to commence on Thursday at Mumbai’s MMRDA grounds. At the 2014 Delhi Motor Show, the company showcased the Abarth 500 and the launch would mark the official entry of this high performance brand in the Indian car market.
Under the hood, the Abarth 500 Competizione high performance hatchback gets the 1.4-litre 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine that is capable of producing a top power output of 158bhp and a peak torque of 230Nm. This engine is coupled to a five-speed manual transmission gearbox which sends the power to front wheels of the car. The Abarth 500 Competizione accelerates to 100kmph from zero in around 8 seconds and hits a top speed of 210kmph, making it one of the fastest hatchbacks in the country.
The Abarth 500 Competizione hatchback will come as a completely built unit (CBU), and is expected to be priced in the range of Rs. 25-30 lakh. The vehicle will directly compete against the likes of new MINI range, BMW 1 Series and Mercedes A-Class.
Fiat India is also contemplating the Abarth Punto and Abarth Avventura high performance variants next year. Both models will be powered by a 1.4-litre T-Jet motor that is capable of producing 133bhp and 206Nm of torque. The high performance models are expected to be priced around Rs. 9 lakh.
