2015 Skoda Fabia is finally unleashed by the company via two images on the web and it would make its first public appearance at the 2014 Paris Motor Show which is scheduled to kick off in October. The hatchback is not entirely refurbished but yet the elongated body design makes it appear much more mature and grown-up than the phased out model. The Fabia hatch is expected to be running on the Indian roads by mid 2015.

The latest iteration of the Skoda Fabia hatchback follows company’s modern design language and that is the reason behind its distinguished exterior appearance than the other Skoda cars. This time around, it comprises of sharpened edges and angular elements. However, the built platform is same altogether but the wheelbase has been enhanced significantly to provide more spacious inner cabin. Dimensionally too, it is much longer, wider and lower than the existing model. The most-talked about changes are with the powertrains as it would boast all new engines in both guises. The petrol variant lineup would have two different engines – 1.0L and 1.2L and, the former would be doing duties to the base variants while the latter would be paired with the top-end variants. The diesel fuel trim would feature an all new 1.4L TDI motor which would belt out power in three different modes – 75 PS, 90 PS and 105 PS.

The company has stated that the new Fabia is around 17 percent more fuel efficient than the current model. However, the transmission options would remain unchanged and the manual gearbox as well as 7-speed DSG transmission. Skoda is vouching to present Fabia hatchback in a never-seen-before avatar and hence blessing it with every possible safety and comfort feature. Its production is going to commence from the last week of August in order to cater the demands of the European buyers. In India, it is going to br at loggerheads with Hyundai Elite i20, Maruti Swift, 2014 Volkswagen Polo, Fiat Punto EVO and yet-to-be-launched Tata Bolt.
