Hyundai India will launch the Verna facelift in the Indian car market to counter the growing competition in the mid-sized sedan segment. Maruti Suzuki will launch the new Ciaz sedan, which would add more pressure on the Verna saloon. In order to remain fresh, the South Korean automaker will soon introduce the Verna facelift. The vehicle has already put on test and is likely to go on sale in the country by year.

Motorbeam folks have managed to click the rear profile of the updated Verna during its test rounds. This sedan is likely to get cosmetic upgrades and features the evolved version of Hyundai’s Fluidic design- “Fluidic 2.0 design philosophy”.  It gets subtle changes to both front and rear fascias. The front gets larger headlights inspired from Hyundai’s premium saloons- the Sonata and the Genesis. It would get larger dual-slat grille instead of single slat, while the bumper has been restyled to accommodate new fog lights with DRLs.

The rear profile of the spotted vehicle was fully covered, that means subtle changes would be on offer. The updated Verna has already been launched in Russian market, which gets new brake lights that features sport LED, redesigned reflectors and a black underbody.

Mechanically, the Hyundai Verna facelift is expected to remain unchanged. While the petrol version would get the same 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre engines, the oil burner has- a 1.4-litre CRDi and a 1.6-litre CRDi. Both the engines are paired to a six-speed manual transmission gearbox. It is expected that the automatic transmission would be a six-speed automatic gearbox instead of 4-speed.
