BMW India has launched the 2015 BMW X3 facelift in the Indian car market at Rs. 44.90 lakh. Unveiled at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, the updated model gets an array of cosmetic changes and mildly tweaked engine lineup. First launched in 2011, the X3 gets makeover after almost 3 years to its launch. The new X3 is available in two variants only- the X3 xdrive 20d Expedition and the X3 xDrive 20d xLine.
The front fascia of the BMW X3 facelift has the company’s new design philosophy. Its front kidney-shaped grille resembles the elder sibling X5’s, which is flanked by bigger headlamps. The twin circular headlights are now available in optional full LED specifications. The bumpers now sports new contours, while the electrically adjustable ORVMs gets side blinkers. The newly designed front bumper adorns wider air dam and new set of fog lamps. Adding to it, this model gets slightly tweaked tail lamp cluster and a brand new set of alloy wheels, which is bigger in size.
Inside the cabin, the vehicle gets piano black centre console, new cup holders, new leather upholstery and others. Its tail gate now opens electrically. There is a high quality material on offer with chrome embellishments. Its centre console has an optional automatic climate control system and wood paneling with pearl chrome highlights. The vehicle gets new HVAC display and the optional navigation system has been renewed as well. The new BMW X3 offers an impressive boot space of 550 litres which can be extended up to 1,600 litres by folding the rear seats.
For instance, the vehicle is only offered with a 2.0-litre diesel engine that churns out a maximum power output of 190PS and 400Nm of top torque. The vehicle accelerates to 100kmph from standstill in just 8.1 seconds.
The X3 is locally assembled at company’s manufacturing unit in Chennai. It will lock horns with the likes of Audi Q5, Land Rover Freelander 2, Mercedes ML Class and Volvo XC60.
