New 2015 Skoda Fabia- when is it coming to India?

new Skoda Fabia coming next year

Czech car manufacturer Skoda will launch the all new 2015 Skoda Fabia hatchback in the European nations in October. Recently, the company announced the sales achievements for 2013 which stated that Skoda sold 202,000 units of hatchback in 2013, down from 240,500 units in 2012. It was speculated to be unveiled at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, that didn’t happen. (READ MORE- Upcoming Hatchback Cars in India)

If media reports to believe, the new Fabia will not be based on immensely popular VW’s MQB platform. It was stated that it will sit on the short version of VW Group’s MQB platform, named MQB-A. This platform will also underpin the new generation Volkswagen Polo and Seat Ibiza.

The new generation model will sport Skoda’s new design language, which we already seen on the facelift version of Yeti. The vehicle is likely to get a wide front grille with a larger angular shaped headlights and LED tail-lamps. It is also expected that the company will retain the current broad styling till upswept C-pillar. Reports are claimed that Skoda will provide contrasting exterior shades for the roof, door mirror caps and wheels, which we have already seen on the highly popular Monte Carlo special editions.

The new Fabia is expected to be longer and wider than the current model, which offers better interior space and boot space. The current generation model measures 4000mm in length, 1642mm in width and 1498mm in height, and has an excellent luggage carrying capacity of 1180 litres with the rear seats fold.

Skoda India has already stopped the production of the current generation Fabia; however the company is still selling the hatchback in the market, which could be the move to exhaust the remaining stock. We expect the new generation Fabia will be launched in the country by the next year. New Fabia hatchback is likely to get the new 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol and engine and the 1.4-litre 3-cylinder TDI turbo diesel engine. It will compete against the likes of new Honda Jazz, new Volkswagen Polo and new Hyundai i20.
